Recently I did a huge sweater haul from a bunch of my favorite stores to prep for the colder months in Ohio. Me? Excessively shopping? Absolutely no surprise. I live in a big blue house in my little college town with seven, yes seven, other girls and they are always stealing out of my closet. My best friend Katie is always pulling options, so I decided to pull together my favorite sweaters I’ve bought lately. When I was picking my favorites, I realized I look for a three main things when buying sweaters.
I’m super drawn to neutrals.
Everything I’ve been buying lately, especially sweaters, is either white, tan, or black. Sometimes i’ll throw in the occassional blush or red to switch things up. I love the versatility in all of these and that they can be styled in so many different ways.
I either buy oversized or cropped sweaters, there’s no in between.
I want everything so oversized or super cropped nowadays. A lot of these are so oversized that I can wear them with leggings and still look dressed up.
The best sweaters are the ones that can be dressed up or down
Every single sweater in this post, as well as most of the other ones I’ve bought, are sweaters that can be dressed up with jeans or worn on casual days with leggings. A major focus in my wardrobe is getting things I am able to style in so many different ways.
I styled all of these sweaters with one of my favorite pairs of jeans, but they could easily be worn with leggings too. I chose two of my new pairs of boots to pair with these sweaters but I think they’d be just as cute and casual with sneakers.
Oversized Chenille Sweater
Its no secret that I’m obsessed with Abercrombie and I’ll tel anyone that will listen. I recently got this sweater from there and love the fit and color of it. It comes it comes twelve different colors and is just about the most comfortable sweater I’ve ever bought. It’s chenille which is so cozy and warm, adding the other eleven colors to my Christmas list as we speak. I love the exposed seam detailing as well as the ribbed cuffs and bottom. My only regret with this sweater is that I got it in an XS, I wish I went one size up for more of an oversized fit.
I finished this look off with my favorite Abercrombie jeans, and the Karl Lagerfeld combat boots I bought a little while back. I think it’d be so cute with leather leggings and sneakers as well, or even regular leggings with a scarf and beanie for a more casual look.
Black Puff Sleeve Sweater
This black puff sleeve sweater is from H & M and I love that its a simple black sweater with a flare. Its actually super warm too which is always a plus. its a little on the longer side but looks super cute tucked in to a pair of high waisted jeans.
I paired this sweater with these boots from Target that are a designer dupe. I the color because they can be paired with everything but also because they elevate a pair of skinny jeans. I also thought of pairing this sweater with a midi skirt and heels to dress it up more.
Off the Shoulder Sweater
I loved the fit of this sweater so much that I bought it in two colors, and will probably add another two to my Christmas list. I snagged it in this almost burnt orangey tan color that I love for fall, but also in red for the holidays. I’ve been obsessed with so many pieces from Lulu’s lately and this is no exception, they’re sweaters are so cute and super affordable. Joining their VIP rewards club can almost guarantee you 20% off every purchase as well.
What drew me most to this sweater is that its super comfy and warm, but also the off big fold over off the shoulder detail. Shows the perfect amount of skin while still being cozy.
I recently bought a pair of leather joggers this would be so cute with. Thinking of pairing the red version of this sweater with them for the holidays.
Cropped Button Up Cardigan
I was so drawn to this sweater because of the fact that it’s cropped and the button detailing. H & M has really impressed me with all of their sweaters at a great price point and they’re super good quality. Cropped Cardigans and sweaters are super popular right now and I thought this was a great option. I love the fact that it looks cute buttoned or unbuttoned, and I went a size up in this so a small!
I’ve thrown this sweater on with a cropped tank and leggings and its still super cute as well. Another cute way to wear it would be be over a dress buttoned up.
Tan Oversized V-neck Sweater
I got this sweater from H&M purposely for the fact that I can wear it with leggings and my combat boots once it gets colder. I got it in tan & white, again, no surprise! But wish I sized up so it was more oversized. The sleeves run a little big so I ended up cuffing them. I love that I can wear it off the shoulder like I am here or wear it under a jacket to layer and stay warm.
It’d be super cute with leather or regular leggings as well. I picture this sweater paired with leggings, a vest, and a beanie for a warm winter option as well.
Black Cropped Mock Neck Balloon Sleeve Sweater
I bought this sweater strictly for the fact that I knew I was going to want to layer it under things. Another great H & M find! I love the mock neck detailing as well.
This sweater is super simple but is another great option to be dressed up or down. I thought it was so cute with these knee high slouch boots from Target as well.
Sweaters are a staple in my closet this time of year and I had such a hard time narrowing it down to my favorite few. You can’t go wrong with any of these styles, or these retailers. If you guys have any more requests for content
